Most Common Functions of Stayflex Systems
  1. Corrosion Control
  2. Stayflex Systems reduce/eliminate corrosion of steel and concrete by providing a virtually impermeable barrier to air, moisture and chemicals. Independent laboratory testing and 20 year case histories document the ability of Stayflex Systems to stop or dramatically reduce corrosion thus eliminating the need to eventually replace the steel - a very expensive and time-consuming procedure. The thickness and strength of Stayflex Systems eliminate the need for meticulous surface preparation as is required for painting. As a result, costs are competitive with permeable paints. Painting is generally not cost-effective due to corrosion continuing to occur with repainting necessary as well as eventual replacement of the steel or concrete having steel rebar.

  3. Thermal Insulation
  4. Stayflex Systems provide highly-efficient, seamless thermal insulation for eliminating condensation and reducing energy costs. "R" ratings exceed 7.7 per inch which is twice the ratings of common insulation materials such as polystyrene foam and fiberglass insulation. The Stayflex polymer surface provides an air, water and vapor barrier over the Staycell insulation to assure the thermal efficiency is maintained.

  5. Finishes on walls, ceilings, piping and ductwork
  6. Stayflex Systems are increasingly being used as finishes on walls, ceilings, piping, ductwork and other surfaces in food processing facilities where sanitizing with high-pressure, hot water and chemicals is often performed daily. Stayflex Systems are used in preference to 4 foot wide fiberglass-reinforced plastic (FRP) sheeting due to bowing of the sheeting and problems with bacteria entering the joints and getting behind such products.

  7. Lead paint control
  8. OSHA regulations require lead content to be determined when any paint or primer will be disturbed by surface preparation techniques such as abrasive blasting or scraping. If lead quantities exceed regulated levels, costly and time consuming procedures must be performed to provide a suitable surface for painting. Independent test data shows Stayflex Systems do not disturb the surface during installation. This enables Stayflex Systems to usually being lower in cost than ordinary paint systems having much less life expectancy. Something better for less!

  9. Asbestos control
  10. Contrary to popular belief, EPA regulations do not require asbestos to be removed if other control methods will prevent asbestos fibers from becoming airborne above regulated levels. Stayflex Systems have the distinction of being the only system in the United States described by Federal EPA guidance documents as "Generally suitable for all forms and thicknesses of asbestos-containing materials".

    Stayflex Systems are used to encase asbestos present on piping, tanks, structural steel, floor and roof decks, walls and equipment. Stayflex Systems are also used to reduce the cost of removing asbestos by encasing the asbestos, removing the encased component and burying it intact instead of the more costly and hazardous hand-stripping of asbestos. Savings exceeding $1,000,000 have been achieved in demolition projects.
